  • Snowboarding

Ask my husband, I am obsessed with snowboarding and I have only ever gone 3 times. I am looking forward to this season soooooo much. We are going to plan a few trips with winter to a few of the nearby resorts and I really hope that he enjoys it as much as I do! I love being out in God's raw creation interacting with in a way that people dream of.

We had  Christmas Part 1 with my parents and Grandma yesterday. It is so much fun to spread it out that way! It looks like I only have to work Christmas Eve and Brad and I get to spend the whole next day together!! It is fun to come up with ideas to start our own traditions.

Hope everyone is enjoying the holidays. God bless us every one!

  • Oh Christmas Tree. . .

Just thought I'd post a few of our Christmas decorations

This is a bookcase that Brad's grandpa made. It is in our living room and I placed our nativity scene on top with an extra branch that was cut off from the tree. We do not have any good place for our stockings, so we decided to hang them here! (sorry the pic is a bit blurry)

Here is the first living tree either of us have had for a long time! We bought it from the Boy Scouts

I made this angel from fabric that I got from my Grandmother's hope chest. I think the cape fabric was an heirloom piece made by my great great grandmother

I go back to work tomorrow after having a few days off. Hope everyone is doing well! Have a great day.

    P.S. Happy Irish Independence Day

Making holiday candy. . .Part of Thornton Christmas tradition

Hello all! Mom and I had a great time making tasty sweets to send to friends and family. Yesterday we make four different kinds of Christmas candy and next week we are going to attempt 6 cookie recipes! I highly recommend this for a holiday activity with yourself and a few friends. Just follow the recipes exactly and make sure that you have good measuring cups and candy thermometer!

    The ingredients. . . .

All in all we made Chocolate Peanut Butter Brittle, English Toffee, Mound Coconut Balls, and Mocha Truffles! All of them turned out quite nicely!

I love the Holidays! This is the first Holiday season in several years I have been able to enjoy! I am quite excited!

  • So long in between

I am really bad at this. I need to check back more often and rather than only commenting on other people's sites, I need to let you all know what is up in my world. Brad and I are doing pretty well. He is very busy with work at Best Buy since the holiday rush is on. We don't see each other much. We got to hang out with my parents and grandma on Thanksgiving, then Brad worked a nearly 12 hour shift the next day. I am scheduled to work on Christmas day so it will be a little strange. Brad already has my gift upstairs in two HUGE boxes. I truely have no idea what it is. I am impressed that he got mine before I got his. First time for everything! He is very proud of the fact too

We are hoping to get our tree on Wednesday when We will both be off. We can't wait since both set of parents have had the artificial ones for awhile. I can't wait to hang all the ornaments that I have collected. Our apartment door is the first in our little complex to have a wreath!
    I love Christmas!!!!!

I really miss my friends and family scattered all over the place now. We are hoping to see Vanessa and her husband in January since we can't go to Portland for Christmas. I feel very empty and lonely without all these special people to build and share memories with. Please call me if you have time .

    Shout outs!
Will and Kim~ Sooooooo happy for you and your new addition on the way. You guys will make great parents!

Michael and Ashely~ Congrats on your engangement. I had no idea that you were dating!! When is the special day?

Tuesdy and John Mark~ Congrats on your wedding next month! God bless!

About Me

  • "There is no such thing as a "self-made" man. We are made up of thousands of others. Everyone who has ever done a kind deed for us, or spoken one word of encouragement to us, has entered into the make-up of our character and of our thoughts, as well as our success. " ~ Abigail Adams
